My Prayer For The Girls of Kenya

This past Friday 31st May 2013, I had the opportunity to stand in front of thousands of people at Aflewo 2013 and make a prayer and declaration on behalf of the Kenyan girls, young princesses like me. I wrote this out of my thoughts, my prayers and my dreams for the girls of this great nation I am privileged to call home. Here is the full text of my declaration:

Full Text Prayer Narration

I praise the Lord, the Creator of life, the one in whom we live, move and have purpose accomplished.

I, as one of the many Christians girls in Kenya acknowledge God’s sovereignty, His grace, His unending love and unwavering faithfulness. My soul glorifies the Lord just as young Mary, mother of our Lord Jesus did.

I declare that every young Kenyan beauty is not a mistake; she is a blessing. She shall glow with beauty, be a source of inspiration and a source of encouragement to everyone she comes across. She shall be like young Queen Esther, obtaining favor, respect and admiration from those around her. She shall have wisdom well beyond her years, she shall be as loving as a mother, as loyal as a friend and as forgiving as our Lord Jesus. We shall be fruitful as we grow older passing on what our amazing parents, teachers and mentors have taught us, to the next generation, no harm shall befall us, and we will proudly maintain our God-ordained identity, beauty and integrity. We will not be put down by peer pressure but will take a stand for what we know is right. We speak healing in Jesus’ name to every wounded emotion, every broken heart, every physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual scar left behind by physical abuse and molestation.

In this season of Jubilee, we declare freedom, restoration and blessing upon every Kenyan princess that is part of this great Nation. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.

Music Through My Eyes

There are many different genres of music. I know of Hip-hop, Rap,Reggae, Classic, Opera and Rock just to name a few.

I prefer Rap, Gospel and Soft Rock. What does music mean to you? Most people classify music as either Gospel or Secular, but I see it differently. Music can wholesome and enjoyable, worship and exalting or shallow entertainment. The way I see it music should be classified.

Songs that are inspirational don’t exactly have to be Godly but they have to be able to lift your spirits when you are down or help you see the most important things in life like one I really love called Gift of a Friend by Demi Lovato. This is good music, enjoyable and yet wholesome. I cannot say that of every one of Demi's songs but this one is.

Songs that qualify under worship and exalting are songs that focus praise and worship to our God. I love these kind of songs.

Songs that fall under shallow entertainment are more often than not very destructive. They do not add any value to your life whatsoever and I avoid such. I love my life and do not want to destroy it with shallow stuff.

Songs that are Destructive DON’T add any value to your life no whatsoever. RES[1].

So today I leave you with one challenge from the following kids song:

Oh be careful little ears what you hear,
Oh be careful little ears what you hear
For the Father up above
Is looking down in love
Oh be careful little ears what you hear

[1] RES stands for Really Enough Said.

Challenge of School and Blogging

I would first like to say that I am terribly sorry for not keeping up with my blog I know that I haven’t been very faithful this past few months. With school and all, finding time to write has been challenging.  How about we think about the previous blog posts as sort of a test run? And now I can start really blogging.
Today I will tell you a wibit more about me than that which you already know for example you know I love fashion but I am now a DIT (Designer in Training). God willing I will soon be having my own fashion label. Can I hear a “YEAH”. I am now in high school well junior high school. My school work has kept me really busy and my blog hasn't been one of my top priorities. I was looking at a few blogs the other day and I saw how the authors never failed to update their blogs after every two to three days a week and I felt regretful for abandoning my blog the way I did. To you my dear reader, I say a big sorry.
Ps I will be telling you guys about our amazing family day out in a short while.

The Value of a Friend

Friends are very important in a person’s life. For me friends are in three different classes.

*      Friends that make you laugh
*      Friends that encourage and inspire you
*      Friends who are honest enough to tell you the truth even when it hurts.

I have each of these three different classes of friends and I’m glad I do. Because imagine if I didn’t have a friend to make me laugh a friend to keep that smile on my face when all I want to do is frown. Imagine if I didn’t have a friend to encourage me there are many things I would have given up on. Imagine if I didn't have a friend who would tell me the truth and nothing but the truth think of all of the humiliation I would suffer.

To me friends are the third most important people in one’s life. First comes God then comes family then we have friends.

Friends are important, take time today to thank your friends. You can write a simple text saying “thanks for being a great friend XOXO” and I’m pretty sure that will make their day.

Home Sweet Home

What makes a house a home? Is it the T.V. in the house? the electronics and gadgets? is it the cost of the things in the house, or the amount of space in the house? What is it that really makes a home?
For one I know it can’t be the T.V., but I have seen that sometimes when you compliment some people on something in their house, they start telling you how expeeeeeeeensive it was. I read a sentence today in my schoolwork that made me think. The sentence I read was” No matter what a house looks like it’s the people that turn a house into a home.”
This I know to be true, because I have an amazing family. My mom is an amazing cook, a loving person someone who’s taught me the values of being a woman who keeps her word and is firm in love, and I know that I will cherish her for the rest of my life. My dad is a really funny person, who loves to inspire others especially in their love for God. He has taught me that when you have a passion for something and you know that it’s right then do it with all your heart. My sister, well my sister has taught me quite a lot about life. One important lesson she’s taught me is that no matter how much family annoys, embarrass, and sometimes even devastates you, family will always be family. I know that even if I were lost in the middle of nowhere as long as I had my family I would be just fine.
Why don’t you write to me and tell me what a home means to you. You can post it as a comment below or send it to my dad’s email address (if you know it :) )

Grateful To Be Alive

There are so many things to be thankful for in life. Among the things to be thankful for are a family that loves you, a roof over your head. To me one of the greatest gifts is that I’m alive today. When I was a year old, I followed my “auntie” into the kitchen playing with my toys. My favorite toy, a yellow rubber duck flew into a bowl of “just boiled” steaming hot water, which was being used to warm my porridge. Of course I still didn’t understand the danger of playing with the bowl, so I reached for it to get my duck back and the hot water poured over me, and remember I said it was steaming so I just want you to imagine how it felt on my one year old skin. Painful thought right?

Now around this time my dad was in the bedroom, suddenly he had a scream. My dad ran into the kitchen to find me crying sorry let me rephrase that, screaming! He ran into the kitchen, and found me screaming, really screaming. After cooling me down with cold water, he carried me outside where a neighbor, hearing me scream had ran outside to see what’s wrong. Together they hurried and took me to hospital and, okay do you seriously expect me to remember all that? I was one year old. P.S. The happenings of that day have been narrated to me numerous times by my dad and mum and validated by the scars on my arms.

I was rushed to Gertrude's Garden Children’s hospital which at the time my dad in his right mind would never have dreamed of taking me to but I was in so much pain and he was therefore not in his right mind. So when we got there he had no money which he needed if I was to be operated on, but God somehow made a way and provided all that was needed for me to be treated. I was in hospital for ten days and God helped my parents using people I probably will never meet or who will never know I’m alive.

P.S. If you were one of the people who helped save my life I want to thank you, because without your help I wouldn’t be here today.  A million times THANK YOUUUUU.
